Professional Biography

Beth Shutt, RD, LSN, CNSD

Beth Shutt, RD, LDN, CNSC is founder of The Athlete’s Eutrophia, a sports nutrition consulting business based in Pittsburgh, PA.  She is a Registered Dietitian (RD) and an elite amateur triathlete, who combines these two backgrounds to provide customized nutrition planning specifically for athletes.

Beth graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition with a minor in exercise physiology at Penn State University.  She went on to complete her Dietetic Internship at Penn State and Hershey Medical Center.  She is licensed in the state of Pennsylvania (LDN) and also holds a specialty certification in Nutrition Support (CNSC). 

Beth has seven years of clinical nutrition experience at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Presbyterian Hospital and in addition does personal nutrition coaching at her local YMCA.  She has also enjoyed giving lectures about proper nutrition to high school sports teams and other athletic groups.  She has several professional publications to her name in the nutrition literature.

With respect to athletic background, Beth got her start as a runner at Greensburg Salem High School where she was a Pennsylvania state champion on the track and a consistent top performer in cross country as well.  She accepted a scholarship to Penn State University where she went on to run Division I cross country, indoor and outdoor track for four years and served as a co-captain of the Penn State squads her senior year. 

Following graduation Beth continued to race from 5K to the marathon but, slowed by running injuries, also decided to try her hand at triathlon in 2006.  Focused primarily on triathlon now, She has proved herself to be one of the top elite amateur athletes in the nation qualifying for and competing in the ITU Amateur Short Course World Championships, 70.3 Age Group World Championships, Life Time Fitness Elite Amateur Championships and the Best of the US Elite Amateur Championships over the past three years.
